Hillwood’s $1.2B “Lantern” community takes shape near Pilot Point

Ross Perot Jr.’s Hillwood closed on 618 acres of land for a planned 2,000-home community near Pilot Point north of Fort Worth.  The new community, dubbed Lantern, is expected to eventually be annexed into Pilot Point city limits, according to the Dallas Business Journal. Hillwood purchased the land from the McCutchin family, who have a long history in the ranching and energy business in North Texas.  In January, Denton County approved a tax increment reinvestment zone for the $1.2 billion plan.
