African American Museum Dallas Hosts National Gathering of Black Artists and Collectors
Southwest Black Art Show Returns to Dallas April 25–26, 2026
The African American Museum, Dallas (AAMD) will host the Southwest Black Art Show (SWBAS) on April 25–26, 2026, at the Museum’s Fair Park campus. The two-day event brings together African American artists from across the United States, along with collectors, scholars, and art enthusiasts for a dynamic weekend centered on artistic excellence, cultural legacy, and community engagement.
Founded in 2010 by Frank Frazier along with a group of art educators, collectors and curators from the North Texas area the Southwest Black Art Show is committed to the exclusive presentation of original fine art, bringing added visibility to artists whose work enhances the collections in public and private collections. The show functions both as a professional marketplace and as an educational platform, encouraging thoughtful collecting practices and strengthening networks between artists and patrons.
Throughout the weekend, museum visitors will experience a curated range of artistic disciplines including painting, drawing, sculpture, mixed media, fine art jewelry, printmaking, and photography. Educational programming, including a ‘Collecting 101’ session, will provide insight for emerging collectors and deepen public understanding of the value of collecting African American art.

Black Art In America (BAIA) is proud to return to the Southwest Black Art Show, reconnecting with the very roots of its origin story. Sixteen years ago, BAIA first launched at this very show, gathering the foundational content that would become BlackArtInAmerica.com and ultimately grow into a national platform dedicated to documenting, promoting, and preserving the legacy of African American art. This year’s participation marks both a homecoming and a celebration of enduring relationships — particularly with founder Frank Frazier, whose friendship, vision, and unwavering support have been instrumental since the beginning. BAIA is honored to stand once again within this dynamic marketplace and cultural gathering, reaffirming its commitment to artists, collectors, and the continued advancement of Black art.
